Boomtown’s full reggae, dub, roots and sound systems announced

With fans still absorbing the gargantuan main headliners release from Boomtown last week, the eclectic music and theatrical festival has just unleashed the full reggae, dub and roots line ups across the ‘Lion’s Den’, ‘Hidden Woods’ and ‘Tangled Roots’ stages.

Accompanying the headliners Ms Lauryn Hill, The Streets, Chronixx and UB40 (featuring Ali Campbell and Astro) on the festival’s flagship main stage, the impressive Lion’s Den Temple (standing at a jaw dropping 90ft high and 300ft wide), will be the original don dada Super Cat; innovative singer, songwriter, DJ, producer Alborosie & Shengen Clan; two of the finest female vocalists in reggae history Marcia Griffiths & Tanya Stephens with Mafia & Fluxy; British rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer Ms. Dynamite and The Black Seeds will be bringing their distinctive New Zealand infectious reggae roots melodies. Includes conscious revolutionary lyricist Kabaka Pyramid, Boomtown stalwarts Gentleman’s Dub Club, Stylo G, Naâman, Manu Digital Ft. Lt Stitchie, Natty & The Rebel Ship, General Levy, Sister Nancy & Legal Shot, Mungo’s Hi-fi, Sevana, Jada Kingdom, Naomi Cowan.

Other roots, reggae, jungle and dub artists at the beach party, which is found in the sun dappled woodland village fully kitted out with treetop walkways and tiki bars in the Hidden Woods, are Spanish reggae, dub and trip-hop duo Iseo & Dodosound; French dub and reggae multi instrumentalist Kanka; infectious dancehall from London based Alicai Harley, plus meaningful and uplifting reggae from Marcus Gad & Tribe. Also appearing in this magical hideaway throughout the weekend will be Nick Manasseh, Dreadsquad, Born On Road Ft.  feat. Trojan records legend Earl Gateshead, Illbilly Hitec Ft. Kinetical, Gardna & Parly B, Skitz Ft. Joe Burn & Jman, Fleck.

With Saturday welcoming the vibe providers Nice Up! Records hosting a whole day takeover featuring Big Zeeks & Shellington High Road, Soca vs Jungle Soundclash, Xl Mad, Riddim Punks, Red Eye Hifi,  Lucy, Origin One, Mr Benn, Escape Roots, Cut La Vis, Ila Brugal and Shepdog.

Boomtown’s limitless bass pounding sound system all day celebration in Tangled Roots will again be powered by the heavyweight bass of  Lionpulse and QSS Sound Systems featuring: The Bug ft Miss Red,  legendary UK sound systems Iration Steppas ft Macky Banton, Channel One,  The Heatwave, Danny Rankin (Kurupt FM), Alicai Harley, Benny Page b2b Aries,  Nick Manasseh, Uncle Dugs, Skitz & Joe Burn Part2Style, Solo Banton, Kelvin 373,  Legal Shot, Jam Jah, Selecta J-Man, Kreed, Origin One, Fleck, Electrikal Sound, Sinai Sound,  Rompa’s Reggae Shak, Young Culture, Deeka B, Chris Satta, Lionpulse, Sasha Steppa, Dutchie, Hold Tight Showcase, Escape Roots & Tom Spirals, Vixen,  Nem, Sugar Sound, Joe Peng and Jim Bitch.
