Rare Monk’s self-titled new EP has been released via B3SCI Records.

Rare Monk’s self-titled new EP was released today via B3SCI Records. The EP can now be streamed in full via Spotify, where “Warning Pulse” is also featured today in the New Music Friday playlist, and purchased via the B3SCI webstore.

The Portland, OR-based band premiered two tracks off the EP – the moody “Warning Pulse” via Pigeons and Planes in September and the anthemic “California” via The Line Of Best Fit earlier this month, and a video for “California” will be coming soon.

Next month, Rare Monk will play a hometown show with HUNNY. The five-piece wrapped up a west coast tour in October that included dates with Aquilo, OSCAR, Beach Baby, and Leisure. Late last month, the band filmed a live session with Jam In The Van that features “Warning Pulse,” “California,” and “Splice,” from their 2014 7-inch, which can be seen here.

Produced by Tom McFall (Weezer, Bloc Party, R.E.M.) the Rare Monk EP is the follow up to the Portland, OR band’s widely lauded, 2014 7-inch ‘Splice/Sleep Attack’. Pairing forward-thinking arrangements and visceral, soulful instrumentation with a strong sense of effective pop songwriting (the band counts acts as diverse as Phoenix and Sonic Youth as key influences), the four tracks on the Rare Monk EP are a powerful statement of intent.

Rare Monk is born from the grit of jam sessions, proof that the modern day rock band that creates together, stays together. The band’s origin can be traced back to college years, where they where the go-to band for impromptu drunken dorm gigs and psychedelic jam-outs. In 2012, the band teamed up with producer Skyler Norwood (Horse Feathers, Blind Pilot) for their self-released Death By Proxy EP, and between then and now have been regular touring fixtures in the UK and on America's West Coast as they honed their thunderous and affecting live show.

Rare Monk are Dorian Aites (Vocals, Keys, Violin, Guitar), Isaac Thelin (Violin, Saxophone), Hugh Jepson (Guitar), Forest Gallien (Bass), and Rick Buhr (Drums)
