Vans Wangl Tangl

The VANS Wängl Tängl 2012 presented by G-Shock is a week long Snowboard, Skateboard, Music and Art “Contest-ival” in Mayrhofen, Austria.

Musical highlights will take place throughout the week, with DJ’s and live music every night of the week, until the nightly events build into a frenzy on the 22nd and 23rd of March with musical headliners including -  Roots Manuva,  American East Coast hip hop legends, M.O.P. (Mash-Out Posse) and post-grunge/alternative metal band Seether.

Event attendees can spend their days riding Mayrhofen’s incredible terrain after a winter of heavy snowfall and spend evenings enjoying free music in a high alpine setting during Europe’s most prestigious snow and skate event’s 10th Anniversary. A next level art show hosted by Vans Looking Sideways will feature 10 international artists and an interactive art show.

MUSIC – Vans Wängl Tängl Lineup 2012
For the world´s greatest gathering of crews, clans and tribes a premium music lineup is set.  On Saturday, 17th of March the „Contestiväl“ kicks off with the FM4 Club at Brueck´n Stadl with DJ Phekt, Flip & Average and the Austrian DJ legend DJ DSL. On Sunday, the Red Bull Brandwagen is going to hit Mayrhofen´s town centre right in front of the Penkenbahn for a street concert with the body moving DJ crew Disco Dogs and the Wax Wreckaz.

The DuzzDownSan Label Night at Scotland Yard Pub on Monday features PDF, Feux, Chrisfader and Testa. The Basti Stein Groove Project delivers great jazz music for the art show at the Europahaus on Tuesday. Vienna-based hip hop beat makers Twintowas will be playing “60 Minits of Funk” on Wednesday night. Get ready to rock on Thursday as the Vans Off The Wall Music Night presents headliner Seether, Those Furious Flames and the Truck Fighters in a free open-air concert at the Waldfestplatz.

The Music Pavilion in Mayrhofen will be the stage for the musical finale on Friday night. Austria’s best soul voice Lylit will open the ceremony, followed by Ill Minds, Def III and Digga Mindz, getting rough and rugged. Blak Twang aka Tony Rotton will spread some UK flavour and reggae vibes, before the last crew of the 10th Wängl steps into the arena; the Mash-Out Posse from Brooklyn NY, better known as M.O.P. – Ante Up!

SNOW - VWT Snowboard Crew Battle
From riders for riders! True to the Off The Wall spirit, this is and always will be the main mantra of the Ästhetiker crew. In 2012 the largest gathering of shred crews ever will happen in the famous supersized Vans Penken Park, customized and extended especially for the event with the infamous Red Bull Endsection by the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen, based on the designs of Ästhetiker´s own Steve Gruber and Wolle Nyvelt. For the jubilee the event opens up to more riders in an open qualification. Up to thirty teams can join the game, vying to qualify for the three open spots in the main „Tängl Team Contest“, where sixteen crews meet head-to-head in a knockout system with team judging format. No crew will be eliminated in the first round and all teams get a second chance to go for the 15.000 Euro total prize pool.

SKATE - VWT Skateboard Crew Battle
The Wängl Tängl skate event has always taken its own path, but it shares similarities with the snow event by sharing a vibe that is about progressing with your friends. Twenty of Europe´s best transition rippers are invited to the 2012 edition, some of them are previous winners, and they know how to use the spot to optimize their combos. Along with them, other crews can currently register online at www.wangltangl.com for taking part in the open qualification, where the top six crews get a spot for the main crew battle, in a sixteen crew head-to-head format. Pepare for the best skaters in Europe to come down to the valley: Andy Scott, Josh Young, Phil Zwijsen, Ross McGouran, Jake Collins, Sam Partaix, Alain Goikotxea and many more!

ART – Vans Looking Sideways Art Show
Vans Looking Sideways is a crew of artists rooted in boardsports. For the 2012 art show at the Europahaus they have invited 10 international artists to exhibit their work. This exhibit will potentially include paintings, board graphics, sculptures or a photographs. All of it connects, somehow, to those who ride. Confirmed artists include Blaise Rosenthal, Mark ‘Fos’ Foster, Will Barras, Corey Smith, French and Schoph Schophield.
