After the fantastic response to the music and the venue from the audiences in 2011, we’ve planned a really strong programme for 2012 of great jazz.
Herts Jazz Club is proud to announce details of the 2012 Herts Jazz Festival to be held at Campus West in Welwyn Garden City on 14-16 September 2012.
Following on from the successful first festival in 2011 – it received a rare four-star review in The Times – which put Welwyn Garden City on the national jazz map, we have booked a line-up of the very best in British and European contemporary jazz. This year’s programme features Martin Taylor, Troyka, Zoe Rahman, the European Jazz Ensemble, Stan Tracey, Alan Barnes, Bobby Wellins and many more. The Festival is being supported by Arts Council England.
Festival Artistic Director, Clark Tracey said, “After the fantastic response to the music and the venue from the audiences in 2011, we’ve planned a really strong programme for 2012 of great jazz. We can’t wait!”
Established in 1969, HertsJazz has become renowned as THE venue for jazz fans young and old. Gigs featuring the very best jazz talent in the country happen every Sunday at 7.45pm at Campus West, Welwyn Garden City. The gigs have a very relaxed atmosphere where music is top of the agenda for aficionados and newcomers alike. Stan Tracey CBE is patron of the club.
The club is particularly keen to bring jazz to a wider audience and is making tickets for weekly gigs available for just £5 to students and under-21s. Campus West has plenty of free parking, disabled access and a bar serving beers, wines, soft drinks, hot drinks and snacks.
