Brownstock Add Fratellis To The Bill

Festival Crowd Header
The Fratellis

The Fratellis announced as first headliner + Mark Ronson and Pigeon Detectives for Brownstock Festival 2013.

Brownstock Music Festival is an independent boutique festival run by the Brown family on their farm near Chelmsford, Essex. All the family's personalities combine to create this varied and intimate festival. It will be held this year on the weekend of the 30th Aug -1st Sept 2013.

The Fratellis will also be gracing Brownstock Festival's main stage. Having recently announced a 2013 summer tour, Brownstock will be one of only a handful of UK festival performances.  Formed in March of 2005, The Fratellis wasted no time in becoming Scotland's biggest export to the world. In no less than 2 years the Glaswegians had sold over a million copies of their debut album, 'Costello Music', in the UK alone. The peak of their achievements was picking up the Best British Breakthrough Gong at the Brit Awards, as voted by listeners of BBC Radio 1. They were also labelled 'The best new band In Britain' by The NME. The Fratellis finished recording their 3rd album on Feb 4th 2013, so expect a sneak preview.

Other main support acts added for the 3 day festival include:

Mark Ronson, genius producer, DJ and musician, will be taking to the decks at the Essex festival. Ronson started his career as a hip hop DJ. He is now a Grammy and Brit Award winner, famous for his extremely successful work with good friend Amy Winehouse, as well as  with his band, The Business International. Recently he has worked with Katy B, and A-Trak, as well as performing a DJ Duo act with Zane Lowe. He is renowned for his charisma, so Brownstock Festival can expect a set to remember.

Platinum selling indie rock band, The Pigeon Detectives. The band have 3 top 40 albums. Their first, "Wait for Me" debuted at number 3 in the album charts. They have also previously supported The Fratellis, playing alongside them and the massive Kasabian.

Benga & Youngman. Benga widely thought of as one of the pioneers of dubstep. One third of Magnetic Man, half of Radio 1 DJ duo, Skream & Benga, and producer behind Katy B's first string of hits. He even has the claim to fame of playing dubstep for Prince William and Harry!

Roni Size: Roni Size is a veteran DJ of drum and bass and Mercury Music Award winner. The well renowned Brown paper bag is still an institution of a track!

Doorly:  As a Brownstock ambassador this will be Doorly's 3rd appearance at the festival after hosting his own stage in 2012. More recently he's gone on to play some of the biggest shows the scene has to offer, including a Nokia launch in Times Square, New York, alongside Nicki Minaj in New York.

More than the main stage

The Brown family are extremely excited to welcome headliners of this calibre to the 2013 festival. However they do strongly believe that a true festival is about more than just the main stage.

The festival's headliners will be supported by 100s of unsigned acts during the weekend. These acts are handpicked by the Brown Family who personally listen to all the applicants; their ethos always being to support the strong local music scene.  Their new Facebook Band App aims to make this even more inclusive, allowing acts to apply as well as letting festival goers to listen to, or request acts.

The festival is also scattered with themed areas hand built or handpicked by the Brown family. Acts will take to the Treehouse Stage, hand built by Farmer's Daughter Anna Brown, up in one of the old oak trees in the festival field.

You can also pop by The Piano Bar (run by www.pianodj.co.uk) in the festival campsite. With a huge grand piano centre piece, this bar is home to impromptu acoustic sets and everything from Burlesque Dancers to fitness classes with piano music for backing.  Sometimes talented piano playing festival visitors come out of the crowd to play requests with the whole bar singing along into the wee hours. Open again in the morning for Sunday papers, board games and an Aspall Cyder to warm you up for the next day.
