Corona Capital, Mexico’s leading annual arts & music festival returns for a third year this October with its unique combination of world-class international line up and prime location right in the heart of Mexico City.
Featuring a mixture of international acts in addition to local up and coming artists, Corona Capital 2012 looks set to cement its place as one of the world’s best festivals. With an initial line-up that including heavyweight acts The Black Keys, 80s British legends New Order and other-worldly songstress Florence and The Machine, 2012 looks to establish Corona Capital as a contender on the global festival scene.
Corona Capital 2012 will also see performances from English alternative rock outfit Suede, Scottish indie rockers Franz Ferdinand and Irish hit-makers Snow Patrol. They will be joined by South London’s finest 5 piece The Maccabees who’s most recent album “Given to the Wild” received widespread critical acclaim. Also heading to Mexico will be New York’s finest trio The Drums and Brooklyn based duo Sleigh Bells. Female-fronted rock groups The Joy Formidable and Alabama Shakes will be heading to Mexico City.
Electronic music fans will not be disappointed with confirmed sets from the legendary DJ Shadow, master of the turntables A-Trak and party starters Major Lazer alongside more up and coming acts such as Araabmuzik. Other acts confirmed for Corona Capital 2012 are My Morning Jacket, Band of Horses, Garbage, The Vaccines, Tehan and Sara, The Big Pink, The Ravonettes, The Black Lips, Airborne Toxic Event and AWOLNATION.
Taking place over the weekend of the 13th and 14th October, Corona Capital features over 24 hours of uninterrupted music, across 4 stages and includes over 30 musical acts of various genres. Much focus is also placed on arts and culture within the festival due to the unique location and ‘cultural hub’ status of the city in which it is set. The 2011 line-up included credible acts The Strokes, The Rapture, Moby, Wild Beasts, Portishead and 2010 saw performance from The Temper Trap, Two Door Cinema Club, The Pixies, Interpol, Regina Spektor, Foals, White Lies and Echo & The Bunnymen.
