After nearly 25 years of defiant independence, legendary nights and culture-shifting importance, Rave kingpins Slammin Vinyl are bringing their biggest lineup to date to Finsbury Park this September for Tranz-mission Outdoor 2016.
Carrying on from Slammin Vinyl’s defining events throughout the capital, including unmissable showcases at Alexandra Palace, Brixton Academy and Bagley’s amongst others, Tranz-mission is set to deliver an unmissable journey through the past, presents and future of one of the UK’s most celebrated and influential counter-culture movements. Slammin Vinyl’s return to Finsbury Park with Tranz-mission hosts a wealth of defining underground heroes, gathered together as the true epicentre of rave culture in 2016 and the landmark celebratory event in the UK this year.
Heading up the unparalleled musical lineup is the iconic Grandmaster Flash who has constantly innovated and pioneered over his 40 years in the game. A Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame member and arguably the Godfather Of Hip-Hop, his genre defining anthem “The Message” paved the way for generations of music fans, and his unabashed dedication to his craft makes him the ultimate party-starter, and the perfect names to head up Tranz-mission Outdoor 2016.
Flash will be joined throughout the day by a who’s who of gritty dance icons including Garage maestros DJ Luck & MC Neat, Drum and Bass legends Fabio & Grooverider & DJ Hype, Drum and Bass supergroup SASASAS, SL2 figurehead Slipmatt and NYC’s Frankie Bones amongst others.
“Re-Rewind”-ing back the years, Artful Dodger is set to dominate the park with an unmistakable lesson in authentic Garage anthems, whilst Hardcore/Trance icon Darren Styles will delve into his unrivalled back-catalogue for an uplifting musical masterclass.
Tranz-Mission Outdoor director Grant Smith says:
“Having co-promoted the ‘United’ events at Finsbury Park in 2014 and 2015, we are now very proud to be announcing our Tranz-mission event on the 25th September - resurrecting the Tranz-mission events we staged between 2005 - 2010 in Alexandra Palace just up the road from Finsbury Park. The line-up is particularly interesting to us and close to our hearts with some of our personal teenage heroes on the bill including New Yorkers Grandmaster Flash and Frankie Bones who are original founders of what went to be called the Rave scene. Without these guys things could have taken very different courses”
Celebrating their 21st birthday, one of Garage music’s most revered promoters Sun City will be taking over their own stage at Tranz-mission Outdoor for a journey through their existence with a range of extremely special guests including Spoony, Noris Da Boss & MC Creed and So Solid Crew’s very own Romeo & Megaman for an unmissable ride through memory lane, combining the best of the past two decades of UK Garage. With further stages hosted by the defiant London icons One Nation & Jungle Fever and original 80s trailblazers Raindance, the greatest names and parties are all heading to Finsbury Park this September.
VIP ticket holders have the chance to re-live the Acid House Party experience in an authentically re-created arena with Acid and early House legends Mr C, Danny Rampling, Evil Eddie Richards and Ellis Dee. In the VIP area they’ll also be have use of ‘Posh Loos’ and their own private bar, having already enjoyed their priority entry into the event.
Across a plethora of stages and vibes, Tranz-Mission Outdoor is the perfect way to wind down the festival season, and recapture the golden days of Rave, Drum And Bass, House and Garage that continues to influence and define the musical landscape of today.
