Bill Bailey

Celebrating its most diverse programme since its inception in 2005 and creating a truly unique experience for the entire family, Wychwood Festival is thrilled to unveil the mighty Bill Bailey as the headline artist for Sunday's mainstage line-up.

Bringing his trademark musical mash-ups, multi-lingual riffs, films, songs, philosophising and silliness to Cheltenham Racecourse. In the second batch of artists confirmed by cutting edge, London promoters Smashing blouse, songstress and unstoppable force Lucy Rose, who has been hailed as one of the best new British artists to emerge in recent years, will headline Wychwood's Big Top stage on Sunday. In addition to this energetic rappers Clement Marfo and The Frontline, who are something of a phenomenon in the underground British grime scene, influential, beat-driven, Newcastle pop tikes Shields and indie-folk-five-piece Eliza and the Bear have all been confirmed to appear on the Smashing blouse stage in the Big Top over the course of the weekend. Cementing Wychwood's position as the perfect family weekend away, CBeebies Ben Faulks a.k.a Mr Bloom will bring something for the 'tiddlers' when he brings his unmissable TV show to life live on stage while the Roald Dahl Museum & Story Telling Centre will return once again with their extensive workshop and activity programme.

Showcasing an incredible variety of artists with three days of unmissable entertainment, Bill Bailey is today confirmed as the Sunday headline act at Wychwood Festival 2013 and the first of the comedy offering sponsored by eFestivals. Firmly routed within the hearts of the British nation, Bill Bailey presents "Qualmpeddler", bringing his Doubts about the modern world, which have now grown to Qualms and channeling these feelings of Unease and Apprehension, with the help of Religious Dubstep, his folk bouzouki, Horntallica, a re-appraisal of some of the world¹s greatest works of art and perhaps a dub version of Downton Abbey. He looks at the Consequences of Lies, the Unending Search for the Higgs and the Hiding Skills of Dentists. Bill tries to confront his Cluster-Qualm of living in a Time of Spectacular Ignorance, and Rare Planetary Alignment that may be part of the Mayan End of Days prophecy. Come savour this Broth of Anxiety with Bill Bailey Qualmpeddler.

Leading London promoters Smashing Blouse announce their next wave of up-and-coming artists to perform on the Big Top across the weekend. Recently signed by Columbia Records, Lucy Rose will bring her heart-stopping poignant songs and cracked porcelain voice to Sunday's evening programme that has seen her achieve widespread airplay across BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6Music and tipped as "One of the country's most promising new voices...Utterly beautiful" by the Sunday Time, Culture. Innovative Newcastle-born Shields are a band on a mission to create rich, intricate melodies and harmonies that have been heralded as the "Next Hype" by BBC Radio 1's Zane Low and will ensure crowds get up and dance. Further cementing its position as one of the UK's most eclectic festivals, British grime phenomenon, Clement Marfo and the Frontline are confirmed for Friday night with their energetic and irrepressible live shows that has seen support for Zane Low, Huw Stephens and Semtex, and have played live with Plan B, Example and Florence and the Machine. Plus indie folk five piece Eliza and the Bear will be performing on Sunday's Smashing Blouse line-up ahead of their debut EP set for release this year.

Finally, CBeebies Ben Faulks a.k.a. Mr Bloom will mesmerise the little ones with his inspiring and all encompassing stage show, bringing to life his on screen character that help children learn from the experience of nurturing vegetables and creating a warm family atmosphere to the start of Sunday's programming. Throughout the three days, Wychwood is proud to announce the return of the Roald Dahl Museum who will be delving into some noisy storytelling and an array of workshops to entertain both children and parents alike. An area where parents can kick back and watch as their kids descend into a world of entertainment and imagination.

Wychwood Festival boasts an eclectic and innovative programme that includes indie, folk, rock and world music with some of the most talented emerging artists on the UK’s music scene at the moment appearing alongside industry veterans and cult classics across an exceptional weekend of entertainment. This year’s ninth successive year will see revellers flock to the stunning Gloucestershire countryside to experience an utterly delightful atmosphere enjoyed by all the family, whether a toddler, a teenager, a parent or a festival reveller  There truly is something for the whole family.
