The Great Escape, Europe’s biggest festival for new music, returns to Brighton, 14th-16th May to celebrate its impressive tenth year.

Today, The Great Escape announces the first 150 artists to join the 10th anniversary festival line-up including southern soul-rock quartet ALABAMA SHAKES*, the first Brighton Dome show artist to be announced. As one of the most anticipated artists in 2012, they played to just 400 people, the same year that they delivered their hit debut album Boys & Girls. The band will triumphantly return in 2015 to bring their powerful live show to The Great Escape’s biggest stage.

The band said, “We are very happy to return to Brighton for The Great Escape.  We had a blast last time.  We just finished our new record and very excited to share it with the TGE audience.”

Festival Director Kat Morris said, “The Great Escape is extremely proud to champion emerging talent and creativity across the entire music industry. For the past decade, TGE has given upcoming artists the opportunity to perform for 18,000 passionate fans each year who are all hugely supportive of new music. To mark this very special 10th anniversary, we are excited to be bringing back some very special guests who have all performed iconic and memorable shows in previous years to play alongside 400 of 2015s hottest emerging artists from across the world.”

The venues, churches, pubs, streets and bandstands that make up the 30+ venues in use across Brighton will be bursting with future sounds across every genre including experimental folk singer SOAK, reflective LA-dwelling songwriter TOBIAS JESSO JR., alt-punk BBC Sound of 2015 nominees SLAVES, disarmingly emotive hip hop artist LOYLE CARNER and lovelorn electronic soul artist DAN BODAN.

Also amongst the first 150 artists joining the line-up today is North London’s dreamy electronic trio REAL LIES, wistful and soaring melodies from FLO MORRISEY, Brighton born producer and Chase & Status collaborator LOUIS MTTRS, futurist electropop from JACK GARRATT, Winnipeg hip hop collective THE LYTICS, heavily textured synth soundscapes from OCEAÁN, Swedish pop-noir songstress SEINABO SEY, powerful evocative vocalist LAURA DOGGETT, Essex teenage talent RAT BOY, Welsh indie-rock group PRETTY VICIOUS, Swedish-American pop innovator MAPEI, Dublin four-piece GIRL BAND, Malian desert punk band SONGHOY BLUES and, returning to the Great Escape after their legendary debut in 2012, London-based folktronica foursome DJANGO DJANGO.

The festival is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and will also be supported by UK Music, the campaigning and lobbying body which represents every part of the UK music industry
