Roddy Wooble Live at Union Chapel

Roddy Woomble

From the coastal towns of Scotland Roddy Woomble graced the beautiful Union Chapel in London. Not a more fitting intimate and exquisite venue could have been found for Roddy

From his days in Idlewild his Solo career has surly shown another side to this unforgettable voice.

With the backdrop of gothic stone arches and stunning stained glasses windows lighting the stage the tone was set for an unforgettable gig. The whole audience seated and silent, truly showing Roddys secret is his silence, the set began.  With tracks from his new album "The Impossible song & other songs", to "My secret is my silence" the crowd gazed in a unified awe wrapped in a inner calm the likes of which is very rarely seen at a gig.  Tracks such as “A new day has begun” uplifted the crowd before a "New Frontier" and "Tangled Wire" brought the harmonious gig back to its mellow and soothing tones.  Every completed song was met with rapturous applause from the crowd and a few humble words from Roddy expressing his love for his band members, before the next story began.

With the gig drawing to a close the band gave in to a three song encore and of course they wouldn’t finish without a cover from Idlewild and "Scottish Fiction"!  A song lovingly crafted in its own right was given a new twist and a further injection of Roddy magic, you were left thinking this is how the track was originally intended.

A short and very intimate gig in one of the most underrated venues in London Roddy proved that he is so much more than Idlewild once again, and that Folk is truly where his passion and talent lies.  With many festival dates this year I would not hesitate at attending just to see the master at work.
