Truck Festival 2011-Reviewed

Festival Crowd Header
truck festival For yet another year running Truck Festival has been an incredible success, Truck is and always has been an event for everybody to enjoy, from students to families, from the young to the old. The festival is held every year at the end of July in a village known as Steventon in Oxfordshire. This year was the 14th year of the festival and the space was increased as Truck continues to grow having over 140 artists playing over three days.

This year there was an opening of a new field for the main stage, leaving the other fields filled with the delights of the other stages including the ‘Clash’ stage, the ‘Last Fm’ stage, and the ‘Wood’ stage. Alongside these were the Boxford Dance Village, the Comedy and Cabaret tent, the kids tent, the theatre and of course the Truck Store. Not only this, a variety of cafes and a vast array of trade stalls selling a wide range of merchandise like clothes, jewelry, and musical instruments to name but a few. With all of this as well as the live music going on throughout the event there was plenty of entertainment and exciting things for everybody to do.

Truck put on a selection of activities during the course of the weekend for families to get involved in, this all happened within the kid’s tent and the wood stage, from yoga to making musical instruments, circus skills to family hoe down, there was always something to be enjoyed by adults and their children.

The comedy and cabaret tent was the place to be for some light comedy, mad musicians and the occasional crazy belly dancers, situated near the Last FM stage, the stage was home to the likes of, Chris Turner, Faceometer & The Dapper Swindler, Matt Richardson and Zooey Aleeza, as well as many more who took to the stage to provide some brilliant entertainment for the truckers of truck 14. Not only does Truck Festival provide some fantastic wild antics to a variety of different people it also aims to raise money for charities, giving £5 from each ticket to a charity.

As well as this there were a few stalls that also gave all proceeds to charity whilst providing the public with fresh fruit, smoothies and iced coffee. And if this wasn’t enough the Oxford Playhouse also joined Truck this year and had a tent of their own where they put on a theatrical experience that you could go and enjoy throughout the weekend.

Truck 14 was brilliant and I suspect mostly everyone would agree and say that it was an unmissable weekend filled with music, games, food and laughter. We all cannot wait to see what’s up the sleeves of the organizers for Truck 15.
